Description

The Infrared Target Pointer/ Illuminator/ Aiming Laser (ITPIAL) has built a reputation of service and reliability among US Warfighters and Law Enforcement Professionals. Officially known as the AN/PEQ2A, the ITPIAL has been a mainstay on US combat small arms for years and has gained a lot of notoriety and media attention. The AN/PEQ2A incorporates lessons learned with aiming lights in Desert Storm, other combat operations, and extensive field evaluation, plus production experience with over 50,000 US Military standard aiming lights. The result is a dual beam multi-function laser, which combines the utility and operational effectiveness of aiming lights and illuminator/ pointers in a single device.

The AN/PEQ2A has two IR laser emitters; a pointer and an illuminator. Each can be zeroed separately via windage and elevation adjustment knobs. The Illuminator beam can be adjusted like an IR flood flashlight. A single switch controls both lasers with various modes of operation.

The AN/PEQ2A is a tried and true battle-tested IR laser unit. Its durable polymer housing is built to stand up to the abuses of the battlefield and its controls are easily manipulated with gloves. Besides the fact that it is a great laser unit, we really like the various mounting options available for the PEQ2. Its rail grabber mount can be replaced with specialty mounts and throw levers, increasing the versatility of the laser without losing your zero.

While the AN/PEQ2A is currently being replaced on the frontlines with Insight’s newest offering, the ATPIAL (AN/PEQ-15), there are still plenty of these units serving our brave Warfighters. The AN/PEQ2A is, by no means obsolete, and we feel it is a very viable, cost-effective IR laser unit for America’s Law Enforcement Professionals.
